I always loved the idea of simple static websites with as less overhead as possible. However, the felt need for a full-fledged content-management-system drew me away from the concept. Hence, I’ve been using WordPress, which is absolutely amazing, for many projects.

Nevertheless, for this particular personal project I wanted to do things differently. After some research I stumbled across the beautiful Jekyll and immediately fell in love.

Jekyll, developed by GitHub’s Tom Preston-Werner, is an extremely straight-forward static site generator that behaves exactly as one would wish. It does what is says and does nothing more - no hidden features, nothing that stands in the way.

Now, the only thing that’s missing is what Jekyll was built for … content.
